Parsons Jack Russell
Henry is friendly with dogs and humans. He'll bark at strangers who come to the house but loves the postie. He loves playing with other dogs. Will chase chickens, sheep, rabbits, possibly cows and cats. He's gentle to a fault with young children and has put up with some very rough handling from young kids before I could get to him and put a stop to it.
He is very fit, and has never had a day's illness, and loves long walks, but his recall is poor. If someone could train him to stay with you on a walk and not run off looking for an adventure on his own he would actually be the perfect dog. Apart from recall he is very easy to train. He is very intelligent, and knows lots of commands . He will come when called (and to a dog whistle), but not if he's smelled something or fancies running off. He is a fantastic ratter and is totally fearless and fast,
I haven't seen him with cats, but I think he might put them in the rabbit/rodent category.
Henry's bad points
Henry is good at escaping. A sturdy four and a half foot fence will keep him in. He runs off if you let him off the lead when you're walking. He always comes back - eventually. . Not used to cars as we live very rurally and is very car sick.a Also he will chases them. Sadly he also loves chasing sheep. He'll wee and poo in the house only if he's very worried or can't get out.
Good points: Loads. He's a handsome, healthy, four year old dog. Very affectionate. Loves to have his chest rubbed. Will lie on his back. Wants to be near you, will lean against you when stroked/rubbed. Loves playing ball and will bring the ball back to you for hours (needs to be a proper, sturdy, ball). Will put up with kids and toddlers playing with him endlessly. . Not a demanding dog. Friendly and playful with other dogs. , Henry is very intelligent and looks at you with a steady, brown-eyed gaze. He's a lovely, lovely dog.
